21st Century Craft with Paola Lenti & The Modern Garden Company

High End Italian Furniture and Rug Company Paola Lenti are taking Limpopo’s traditional weaving crafty into the 21^st century with the fabulous new Afra Chair. Paola Lenti, Founder and Artistic director of the company that bears her name and her sister Anna Lenti a trained nuclear physicist now handling the commercial and marketing side of the business recently visited Mogalakwena Craft and Art Village in Limpopo, South Africa. Their mission? To show the world that authentic traditional craft can take centre stage in the international design circles. Susan Perry, Managing Director of the Modern Garden Company, sole distributor of Paola Lenti in Southern Africa, joined the Lenti’s on their trip. Visi Magazine chatted to her about their visit.

The Modern Garden Company puts down roots in a new space

The Modern Garden Company has moved 20 meters from its previous location above Melissa’s in Portside, Green Point (Cape Town), and expanded into 150 sqm of spacious gallery space above Vida e Café in Portside.

The showroom now offers a glamorous, clean, all-white environment with some uplifting and surprising touches. As a result of the expansion, the company is now able to offer extended ranges from exclusive design houses such as Paola Lenti, Gervasoni 1882, Serralunga, MamaGreen, Slide and the latest addition to The Modern Garden Company’s portfolio – renowned European exterior furniture manufacturer EMU, featuring sensual, chic designs from Patricia Urquiola, among others.
